More Fun in the Sun

Cold little boy.  His legs and cheeks would shiver, so I'd make him come cuddle with me in the sun.  He would burrow into my side.  As soon as he stopped shaking he was trying to get out of the towel and back into the water.

Action shot.  See Jacob falling into the pool?
 Yeah, he was okay.

 Warming up again.
 Bubbles!

I love this little swim suit on her.

 Playing with the sprinkler.
 Warming up again.
 Blowing bubbles with Dada.

A picnic lunch after one of our playtimes in the pool.

Relay for Life

My work sponsored a team for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life this year.  I'm the coordinator of the Community Engagement Committee so helped with some of the activities and showed up to walk for a bit, with family in tow.

Ally decorate the luminaries.  The one above is for my Grandma (Ally is named after her) and the one below if for my Dad.

Our tent was doing face painting to help raise more money while we were there.  Jacob got a baseball and Ally got a butterfly.

There was a silent auction there, and I decided to bid on the "Fun in the Sun" package.  I won!  We got two of the pink pools pictured above, plus everything you see there, as well as sidewalk chalk and a TON of bubbles.  The kids were so excited and could not wait to dig into the package and pull everythink out.

We had a really good time at the walk.  We left around 10, and I was sorry to go.  We'll probably do it again next year, and might possibly try to stay the night.

Important Notice to All Seniors!

Ha!

At the Old Ballgame

Our friends Holly and Marcellus invited us to go to a Royals game with them and another couple, Chris and Susan.  Ernest and I hadn't been to a Royals game in quite a while  so we were quite excited to go.  The game itself was semi-entertaining (2 runs in the 1st inning and then NONE for the rest of the game for either team) but we really enjoyed ourselves.

Ladies night.  I got a floppy hat, which was pretty fun.  The hat was so floppy though, that I couldn't see when I wore it.  Ally has had a good time playing with it.

The gang.

A drumline was just in front and to the right of us performing during one of the innings.  I've never really seen one live, so that was pretty cool to me.

A sign I saw at the stadium.  And it is so true.

Win - Royals!  Complete with Fireworks (which I didn't get a picture of).

We had a great time.  Makes me 1) want to do more group dates and 2) come back more often to the K.

Old Shawnee Days 2012

On a whim, went to Old Shawnee Days!  We walked down to City Hall and parked on the sidewalk to watch the Parade.  First time I had actually seen this parade.  It was much larger than I thought it would be, and had a pretty good mix of floats.  The kids loved watching everything.

Afterward we went to the fair.  Got a giant slurpee, some nachoes, and walked around for a bit.  Then we went home for actual lunch and naps.  Ally walked most of the way, though she did get a bit scratched up from a small spill on the sidewalk.

I put sunscreen on Ally, and Ernest put it on Jacob.  When Jacob got up from his nap, you could see the spots that were missed by Dada.  Oh well.  It didn't seem to bother Jacob, mostly just looked funny.

We came back that night to let Ally play on some of the inflatibles.  She was all for it until it was time to start climing up to go down the slide.  Check out this look of apprehension!

Once she made it down one, she had a great time and used up all of the tickets that we had for her.

This was the first slide that she was so scared of.  She eventually came back to this one and did it near the end.  And guess who did it with her...

We were waiting in line to do a climbing wall and the live music on the stage nearby started.  Ally surprised us all by boogying there in line.  I've got a video of it that I'll post once I get it off the video camera.  (She ended up being too small so didn't get to do the climbing wall, but the dancing was worth the wait).

Dada wanted to "fish" with her and try and win a prize.  They actually did win a small stuffed dragon and cat.

So, Old Shawnee Days was a lot of fun.  I'm sorry that we waited so long to try it out!
